A thick, quality underlayment — especially a peel-and-stick rubberized membrane — acts as a sound-dampening layer between the decking and the metal above. Beyond noise, it’s also your secondary water barrier during a hurricane or when wind-driven rain gets under a panel. In Florida, that’s not optional — it’s essential.
